In my last post I noted that the homosexual agenda, especially gay marriage, is directed at stripping Christians of their civil rights. Case in point, is this attack on the rights of Christian B&B owners in Illinois to conduct business in accordance with their religious beliefs–which in this instance meant refusing to host gay civil unions. The particulars, which vary between the two different B&Bs involved, can be seen at the link. Besides being another example of the viciousness of the gay movement and exposing again the lie that gay marriage will have no effects on anyone else, it also illustrates the utter childishness of the Left in general. First, one can note the hypocrisy of their frequent complains about the soullessness of businesses and corporations: perhaps there would be more businesses with an identity rooted in more than maximizing profits if liberals didn’t keep suing them whenever such identities (usually Christian in origin) offend them. But more broadly, it reveals the narrowness and impotency of the Left in the face of its failures. The civilizational bills are coming due, and the Left has no clue how to pay for them, nor does it even realize how they got to be so high. They bet the future on the model of Human Rights Commissions punishing backward Christian B&B owners, but the regulators and commissioners and social workers and administrators are running out of productive people to pay their salaries and pensions. Illinois is broke, and the busybody parasites who have sucked it dry don’t even realize that they’re killing their host, so they just suck harder. How many state bonds will be needed to cover the costs of the Human Rights Commission’s persecution of a couple harmless businesses? Or will the businesses have to shut down in the end, assuming they lose the case and refuse to cave in?
